GENEVA DECLARATION for the WORKING GROUP ON INDIGENOUS PEOPLES Sixteenth Session 27th-31st July 1998 FREPIC-AWAÑAK. The Popular Front for the Independence of the Canaries, FREPIC-AWAÑAK, gives brotherly greetings to the attendants and delegates of the different peoples invited to the Conference of Organisations of Indigenous Peoples and thanks for the opportunity offered to denounce the persistance in our times of economic exploitation, social and cultural uprooting and colonial domination that Spain exerts on the Canarian People. With regard to this unjust situation, in opposition to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which eludes the legal-political mechanisms for the establishment of a sovereign state, we DECLARE: .....
